Need for Speed é uma popular série de jogos de corrida para computador e videogames, publicada pela Eletronic Arts e iniciada em 1994. É considerado um dos melhores jogos de corrida do mundo. O último jogo a ser lançado fo o Hot Pursuit, em 16 de Novembro de 2010.

Descrição

Need For Speed foi lançado em 1994 para 3DO. O Jogo logo se tornou um sucesso, e foram lançadas conversões para PlayStation e Computador . Os jogos lançados depois dele se tornaram um sucesso, pois todos os Need for Speed´s seguintes tinham a mesma formula: levar o jogador a lugares exóticos, com super carros.

Isso fez com que, depois de 1997, houvesse um lançamento a cada ano. Porém com o tempo, o jogo foi perdendo vendas, e isso fez com que a Electronic Arts, mudasse o estilo de Need For Speed, resultando no Need for Speed: Underground

Need For Speed apresenta dois tipos de jogos, que são a geração classica (1994-2002) e a segunda geração (com tunning e história). Isso se deve ao fato, de que do primeiro NFS ao Hot Pursuit 2, os jogos não continham tunning. Foi somente a partir do Underground que os jogos passaram a ter tunning e uma história.
